Kobo rolled out a variety of new ingredients at Suppliers’ Day (Booth 707). One of the latest innovations is spherical non-nano UV filters. These powders consist of a large-size microsphere with attenuation grade titanium dioxide or zinc oxide on the inside. The ingredients offer no whitening effect and improve physical and chemical stability with an excellent feel, according to the company.

The company also debuted microsphere complexes featuring Kobo’s patented technology. It covalently bonds isopropyl titanium trisostearate to various substrates such as platelets, spheres and pigments. The resulting complex offers the best balance of properties possible, including a light, powdery afterfeel, high oil absorption and a pearlescent effect.

Kobo also now offers a double treatment of silane and polyhydroxystearic acid. This patent pending treatment renders the pigments and powders hydrophobic and lipophilic. It is ideal for pressed powders.
