Colgate Elects Two To Board of Directors

Care USA’s Gayle and Novartis’ Jimenez take posts March 1.

Helene D. Gayle, president and chief executive officer of Care USA, and Joseph Jimenez, chief executive officer of Novartis AG, have been elected to Colgate-Palmolive Company’s board of directors, effective March 1, 2010.

Gayle currently guides the strategy and management of Care USA, which is one of the world’s leading humanitarian organizations. As a distinguished expert and leader in the global public health field, she brings to Colgate’s Board a deep understanding of the importance of health and hygiene around the world where Colgate’s oral and personal care products are sold, the company said.

Jimenez was named CEO of Novartis AG in January 2010, having previously led Novartis Pharmaceuticals and Novartis Consumer Health units beginning in 2007. He brings to Colgate’s board extensive leadership experience in the consumer products industry. Jimenezhas also held positions at Heinz, Conagra Grocery Products and The Clorox Company.

Colgate also announced that Jill K. Conway, a director since 1984, will retire from the board effective May 7, 2010 at the end of her current term.
