EMD Patents Skin-Lightening System l Patent No. US 6,969,509 B2: Gibbstown, NJ-based EMD Chemicals Inc., patented a topical composition to lighten, whiten or even out human skin. It must comprise a cosmetically or pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and a light colored standardized powder consisting essentially of over 40% by weight of Emblicanin A., Emblicanin B., Pedunculagin and Punigluconin, and no more than 1% by weight of flavonoids.
