The Cosmetic, Toiletry, and Fragrance Association (CTFA) is requesting public comments by October 31, 2005, on the Introduction to Safety Evaluation Guidelines, and on revised Dermal Irritation and Eye Irritation Guidelines. The introduction section provides general guidance for evaluating the safety of cosmetic products. Dermal Irritation and Eye Irritation guidelines describe in vivo, in vitro and clinical test methods for evaluating irritation potential. Each guideline undergoes a development and review process by CTFA technical committees and staff, as well as public review by CTFA member companies, nonmember companies, federal government agencies and scientific professional societies. An electronic copy of the draft is available from the TFA Public Affairs Department.
