Avon Joins USO to Help U.S. Overseas Troops

Avon Products, Inc., New York, is joining forces with the United Service Organizations (USO) to aidits customers in supporting U.S. men and women in uniform. Avon customers can sponsor an OperationAvon Cares gift set for just $10. Gift sets will be delivered by the USO program, “Operation USO CarePackage,” to service members deployed overseas. Packages include a personalized message ofsupport from each customer.

The Operation Avon Cares packages include deodorant, hand cream, bug guard, bath gel and lip balm.Operation USO Care Packages that include the Avon gift set are approved and endorsed by theDepartment of Defense, according to company executives.

“These Operation Avon Cares gift sets help the USO bring a ‘touch of home’ to our men and women inuniform,” said Edward A. Powell, president and chief executive officer of USO World Headquarters.Complete Operation USO care packages also contain other requently-used items, such as a pre-paidcalling card, disposable cameras, sunscreen and baby wipes.

On Sept. 23, dozens of Avon representatives and USO volunteers will gather at Dam Neck ShiftingSands Beach Club in Virginia Beach, VA with the goal of stuffing 16,000 USO care packages in oneday. “We are proud to support the Operation USO care package,” said Maria Peninger, regional salesvice president of Avon Products, Inc. “The men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces risk their livesevery day, and we are proud to offer our customers the chance to personally thank them for theirservice and sacrifice.”
