The third annual International Packaging Design Award 2002 to be presented at the HBA Global Expo in New York in October needs submissions. The award, sponsored by Happi magazine and Cosmetic Packaging & Design magazine, includes entries in seven product categories: limited distribution cosmetics, limited distribution fragrance (including bath and body), limited distribution skin care, mass distribution cosmetics, mass distribution fragrance (including bath and body), mass distribution skin care and mass distribution personal care. To be eligible, the package must have been introduced in the U.S. or globally between Nov. 1, 2000 and June 30, 2002, or was not available in the U.S. until Nov. 1, 2000.The deadline for submissions is May 1, and the grand award winner will be announced at the industry dinner on Oct. 14. The HBA has established the “Committee 100” to examine the entries and pick five finalists in each category. The finalists are then presented to a panel of judges that includes design groups and marketing companies, who will pick the grand winner.
