Del Doubles Earnings

Del Laboratories reported third quarter net sales rose 12% to $86.3 million and net earnings doubled to nearly $2.4 million. Net sales for the first nine months increased 12% to $247 million and net earnings increased 94% to nearly $7 million.

“The company continued to show solid gains in revenue and earnings,” said Dan K. Wassong, chairman, president and chief executive officer. “Our Sally Hansen brand turned in another strong performance and continues to outpace the market.”

In the third quarter, Sally Hansen extended its leadership position in the mass market nail care category achieving a 21.7% share of market, according to the company. Sally Hansen also became the No. 1 brand of nail enamel with a 20.6% share for the quarter. Sales of N.Y.C. New York Color exceeded expectations as the brand continues to gain distribution and consumer acceptance. The Orajel brand continues to lead the oral analgesics category with a 22.6% market share in the third quarter.

“Our Dermarest brand of Psoriasis treatments completed its first full year on the market and became the number one brand in the category during the quarter,” concluded Mr. Wassong. “I am pleased to note that based on the strong performance we reported for the first nine months, we continue to remain confident that for the full year we should post solid gains in our revenues and earnings.”
