Editor-in-Chief
Chairman and CEO Benno Dorer of The Clorox Company has been ranked No. 1 on Glassdoor's list of Highest Rated CEOs for 2017 based on anonymous and voluntary employee reviews posted on the jobs site during the past year. The list recognizes top leaders employees love working for, with Dorer earning the top spot on this year's rankings with a 99% approval rating. “I view this as a vote of confidence for our entire management team and our strategy that invests in profitable, sustainable and responsible growth,” Dorer said. “Opportunities to focus on innovation, become involved in industry-leading digital consumer engagement initiatives and work on leading brands, all in an environment where you feel fully engaged and empowered, are not just about good business but also about creating a positive work environment for employees.” When employees submit reviews on Glassdoor, they are asked to rate various aspects of their company. As part of this evaluation, Clorox employees pointed to strong leadership, visibility to the business strategy, and feeling like a business owner as some of the factors contributing to their positive work experience. Employees also are asked to rate whether they approve, disapprove or are neutral about the job performance of their CEO. Among the 700,000 companies reviewed on Glassdoor, the average CEO approval rating is 67%.
