US Patent No. 9,549,889 B2; Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc. has patented a rinse-off skin care composition that contains hydrophobic, linear cellulose particles derived from cotton; at least one cleansing agent selected from the group consisting of a saponified fat and a surfactant; and a cosmetically acceptable carrier. The hydrophobic, linear cellulosic particles comprise a coating of a hydrophobic agent selected from the group consisting of metal soap, organic wax, synthetic wax, long-chain fatty acids, long-chain fatty esters, non-water soluble polymers, high molecular water-insoluble fluoropolymers and polymerized siloxanes. The water contact angle of the hydrophobic, linear cellulose particles is greater than about 90. The cellulose fibers are generated from cloth or nonwoven materials previously formed by cotton.
