The philanthropic efforts of the American Cleaning Institute were on display during the annual meeting and industry convention. ACI is a supporter of the Cleaning For A Reason Foundation and their work to sustain cleanliness for women undergoing treatment for cancer. Cleaning for a Reason provides free residential cleaning services to women undergoing treatment for cancer.

During the meeting, ACI President Ernie Rosenberg noted that the 2012 event raised $18,000 for Cleaning For A Reason and he expected to top that total in 2013. At the annual meeting breakfast session, Dow Chemical presented a check for $5,000 to Cleaning For A Reason.

Also during the annual meeting, attendees had the opportunity to work with Clean the World, an organization that collects discarded soaps, shampoos, conditioners and other hygiene products from more than 1,200 participating hotels and hospitality partners. By providing something as basic as soap for hand washing, Clean the World is helping to prevent disease and avoidable death in areas where essentials for cleanliness are otherwise not readily available. In just two years, Clean the World has distributed more than 9.5 million bars of soap to those in need in more than 45 countries.

ACI Annual Meeting attendees had several opportunities to make up individual kits containing soap, shampoo and other personal hygiene products which were to be distributed to impoverished countries worldwide and to domestic homeless shelters.
