Begins term for association that advocates for manufacturers.
January 17, 2014
By: Melissa Meisel
The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) elected American Cleaning Institute (ACI) President and CEO Ernie Rosenberg as chair of the NAM’s Council of Manufacturing Associations (CMA) to serve a one-year term. The CMA is a vital component of the NAM, made up of nearly 240 industry-specific manufacturing associations that provide resources and networks to members to broaden the reach of the NAM’s advocacy efforts. “Ernie has been a champion for manufacturers throughout his career,” said NAM President and CEO Jay Timmons. “He has been on the front lines advocating policies that strengthen manufacturing in the United States. He has worked tirelessly to influence and navigate the complex world of Washington policymaking. We are thrilled to welcome Ernie’s leadership to the CMA and look forward to working with him to advance pro-growth policies.” Rosenberg has been a CMA member for more than a decade, serving as a vice chair for the past two years. He has chaired, co-chaired or founded numerous industry coalitions. While a corporate executive, he was a leader in several associations’ committees and has authored or co-authored many articles for legal, business and technical journals. He is also a frequent speaker on environmental issues. In addition, he was deeply involved in the passage of the 1990 Clean Air Act Amendments, led coalitions working on amendments to the Clean Water Act and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act and worked on numerous state and federal regulations. “Strategic business collaborations are very important to ACI’s members, and that’s why we’ve been active and engaged with the NAM and its CMA,” said Rosenberg. “The cleaning product supply chain provides safe, beneficial and sustainable products for people around the globe. I look forward to sharing our success stories and learning from other manufacturing leaders to work for a competitive landscape that allows manufacturing companies to innovate and thrive.” Thomas Gibson, president and CEO of the American Iron and Steel Institute, was elected vice chair and Heidi Brock, president of the Aluminum Association, was elected second vice chair at the meeting. Donna Harman, president and CEO of the American Forest & Paper Association, becomes the immediate past chair. Three new members were added to the CMA Board of Directors, including Marty Durbin, CEO of America’s Natural Gas Alliance; Roy W. Hardy, executive vice president of the Forging Industry Association; and Daniel L. Twarog, president of the North American Die Casting Association.
