US Patent No. 9,770,404 B2; Amorepacific Corporation, Seoul, has patented a method for whitening skin and increasing skin elasticity, comprising applying a cosmetic composition that contains the following active ingredients: Oldenlandia diffusa extract, a collagen peptide and a white ginseng polysaccharide. The collagen peptide is contained in a liquid crystal oil-in-water emulsion base and the cosmetic composition is formulated into an oil-in-water emulsion. The liquid crystal oil-in-water emulsion base is composed of two or more selected from the group consisting of sorbitan stearate, sorbitan laurate, behenyl alcohol, cetearyl alcohol, caprylic/capric triglyceride, cetearyl glucoside, polyglyceryl-10 pentastearate, and sodium stearoyl lactylate.
