Ninety percent of our time is spent indoors and air contaminants indoors surpass outdoor air pollutants, according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Rug Renovating, East Orange, NJ. Symptoms of a polluted indoor environment from bacteria, mold and other contaminants include fatigue, runny nose, dry cough, skin irritations and dizziness. “A clean home is a healthy home,” explained Dr. M. Berry, EPA head of indoor air pollution. April is tagged “National Healthy Home Month.”

The study also found that tobacco smoke has more than 4,000 different toxins. Executives said the biggest pollutant trap in homes is carpets and rugs, which trap harmful fungi, pesticides and dust mites. Experts said the best ways to cut down on homesickness and allergies are professional hot extraction cleaning techniques, which are 100% to 1,500% more effective than regular vacuum cleaners.
