Awesome Products To Open NC Site

Awesome Products, Inc., a manufacturer of household cleaning products, will open a manufacturing plant in Mt. Airy, NC, in early 2015. The state-of-the-art facility will primarily produce Awesome Products bleach, but it will also serve as a distribution center in the eastern US. The opening of this new manufacturing arm brings the promise of significant positive impact to the Mt. Airy economy; thirty jobs have already been created during the preparation phase, and the plant will employ 120 workers when operations begin in early 2015, according to the company.

Surry County Commissioner Eddie Harris praised the move as an important step forward for the local economy. “We have enjoyed working with CEO and President LD Hardas as well as the city of Mt. Airy in making sure this multi-million dollar investment comes to fruition,” he said. “LD's entrepreneurial and business know-how will pay great dividends for our county in the form of taxes, recognition, investment, and much-needed job creation into the future. We are grateful to Awesome Products for choosing our county and wish them much success.”

Although Awesome Products was eligible for a handful of performance-based grants offered by the state's One North Carolina Fund, LD Hardas chose not to accept the grants, but instead invested the company's own money into the project for the sake of the local community. Deborah Cochran, Mayor of Mount Airy, lauded Hardas' decision, offering the following comments: “Awesome Products is a remarkable company that reflects the strong values and integrity of its president, Mr. LD Hardas. He is living the American dream and wants to share it with the honest and hard-working people of Mount Airy. As mayor, I am ecstatic that Mr. Hardas is in Mount Airy. This is a prayer come true. I overwhelmingly support LD Hardas and Awesome Products, and pray for its continued prosperity here and throughout the US. In my opinion, we owe this man a great deal of gratitude for bringing hope to Mount Airy, and he did so without any government money or grants. The opening of the new facility will bolster new job creation in Mt. Airy. Awesome Products plans to hire a variety of positions including chemists, mechanical engineers, chemical engineers, and distribution workers, with average annual wages that exceed the state average by more than 10%.
