Beauty Business Booms at Ulta

Q1 shows rise in sales—especially online.

For its first quarter 2018, Ulta posted a 17.4% increase in net sales to $1.5 billion. In the report, it was noted that consumers are shopping more online as e-commerce sales soared 48% to $154.4 million. Salon sales increased 10.1% to $75.7 million.
 
 “Our first quarter results represent a solid start to 2018, with better than expected sales and earnings growth,” said Ulta CEO Mary Dillon. “This performance reflects our highly differen­tiated business model that continues to drive healthy retail comparable store sales, excellent new store productivity, and the continued strength of our e-commerce business.”

Brick and mortar is also on the rise at Ulta. The company opened 34 new locations in Q1.
