If you think that Chanel No. 5 pricetag is high at Saks in New York City, you should see what it costs in Shanghai, according to results of a Cosmetify study on cosmetic prices around the world. The report, “The Cost of Beauty Around the World,” compared online beauty prices for 50 countries, tracked five “iconic” products, including Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade, Chanel No. 5, Estée Lauder Double-Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup SPF10, MAC Cosmetics Retro Matte Lipstick and Nars Sheer Glow Foundation. UK-based Cosmetify converted local prices to British pounds, where the current exchange rate is: 1 British pound equals $1.356. China is the most expensive market in the world, where the cost for the five products totaled 316.34 pounds. Canada is the least expensive market for beauty, where total price tag was about 30% less, 197.4 pounds. Here are the top 5 most expensive and least expensive beauty markets in the world, according to Cosmetify. Most Expensive 1. China 316.34 pounds ($428.95) 2. Thailand 300.68 pounds ($407.72) 3. Taiwan 290.26 pounds ($393.59) 4. United Arab Emirates 267.54 pounds ($362.78) 5. Denmark 261.07 pounds. ($354.01) Least Expensive 1. Canada 197.74 pounds ($268.13) 2. US 201.67 pounds ($273.46) 3. Turkey 214.43 pounds ($290.76) 4. Malaysia 217.94 pounds $295.52) 5. Mexico 216.90 pounds ($294.11) Cosmetify went even further, breaking out the prices for each product by country. For example, Chanel No. 5 EDP is cheapest in Canada and most expensive in China. MAC Cosmetics Retro Matte Lipstick is least expensive in Turkey and most expensive in Thailand. Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup SPF10 is cheapest in Canada and highest priced in Taiwan. Anastasia Beverly Hills' Dipbrow Pomade is cheapest in Mexico and the US and most expensive in the Netherlands, and Nars Sheer Glow Foundation is cheapest in Malaysia and most expensive in China.
