Just in time for the American Cleaning Institute Annual Meeting & Convention, AkzoNobel is rolling out an array of new products for household and I&I formulas. The company’s next generation hybrid technology combines the performance of synthetic monomers with the sustainability of corn starch, a natural polysaccharide.

According to AkzoNobel, Alcoguard H 5941, Alcoguard H 5958 and Alcoguard H 5969 work well in ADW and laundry applications. They also reflect advances in hybrid technology that enable even greater capabilities. For example, Alcoguard H 5941 provides very effective anti-redeposition capability in laundry products. Alcoguard H 5958 is said to provide excellent anti-redeposition and anti-encrustation capablilies for laundry formulations and improved anti-encrustation capability for ADW applications. In addition to being readily biodegradable, these hybrids have favorable toxicological profiles that do not detract from their performance, according to AkzoNobel.

The company also announced that its Berol R648 NG readily biodegradable cationic surfactant booster has been granted listing on the US Environmental Protection Agency’s TSCA Chemical Substance Inventory. According to AkzoNobel, Berol R648 NG provides superior degreasing even at low dilution levels. In addition, it significantly outperforms glucoside, octyl amphoteric and coco amphoteric “high performers” even at a lower use level.

New Berol LS is a (patent pending) shelf-stable, transparent and clear concentrated blend of special surfactants and modified colloidal silica (~10 nanometers) that combines two properties – low streaking and excellent degreasing – in one organic solvent-free solution. According to AkzoNobel, it brings together the excellent cleaning performance of all-purpose cleaners with the low streaking behavior normally attributed to multi-surface and glass cleaners.
