Bulgarian Confectionary Company Rolls out Deo

Alpi, a confectionery company from Bulgaria, has teamed up with Beneo of Morris Plains, NJ, to become the first manufacturer in Europe roll out Deo, a rose-based candy that provides a sweet treat as it is eaten and an attractive rose fragrance that is released through the skin after.

The secret to the candy is Geraniol, a colorless liquid found in plants such as rose, lavender and vanilla, that once consumed in candy form, leaves the body through the pores, creating a naturally sweet smell that can last for hours.The effect is very similar to the familiar way a pungent ingredient such as garlic transmits odor through the skin, according to the company.
