ACI’s advocates will lobby to support targeted legislative changes to the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) and retain the EPA’s Safer Choice program within the agency’s jurisdiction.

The American Cleaning Institute (ACI) members were on Capitol Hill this week. ACI members engaged congressional offices about key issues critical for the industry to continue to deliver innovative products that allow Americans to live cleaner, healthier lives.
The Congressional Chemistry Caucus Reception, “Innovative Chemistries for a Cleaner America,” took place on the evening of May 20 in the Rayburn House Office Building. Members showcased products and chemistries, highlighting ACI’s focus on fostering innovation in cleaning products for US consumers.
On May 21, the ACI 2025 Congressional Fly-In offered member companies an opportunity to advocate for policies that help ensure businesses can continue to innovate and formulate products that deliver for families, communities, schools, workplaces and healthcare settings across the country. ACI’s advocates will lobby to support targeted legislative changes to the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) and retain the EPA’s Safer Choice program within the Agency’s jurisdiction.
“Targeted changes to the TSCA statute are needed to ensure the EPA has the clarity and resources necessary to implement the law and approve new chemical submissions promptly and predictably,” said Blake Nanney, ACI director, government affairs. “Our members want to remove unnecessary roadblocks that substantively hold up, or even prevent, innovative chemistries and products from getting to market.”
“Safer Choice is a strong example of how businesses and the government can collaborate to create meaningful market benefits,” Nanney said. “The Safer Choice label shows consumers and businesses that a certified product is safer for human and environmental health. The production volume of Safer Choice-certified products continues to grow, and our members want to continue the success of the Safer Choice program into the future.”
