Clorox raises Q1, fiscal year outlook

Clorox Co. today boosted its earnings outlook for the first quarter and the fiscal year as volume and sales are expected to increase in the low-single digits. The Oakland, CA-based company, maker of Clorox bleach, Formula 409 household cleanser and Glad plastic bags, said it now expects first-quarter earnings, before special charges, in the range of 36 to 38 cents a share, while earnings for its fiscal year ending June 30 are seen in the range of $1.57 to $1.62 a share before special charges.

Wall Street analysts polled by Thomson Financial/First Call were expecting the company to post first-quarter earnings in the range of 34 to 36 cents a share, with a mean estimate of 35 cents a share. For the fiscal year, analysts were expecting earnings in the range of $1.52 to $1.61 a share, with a mean estimate of $1.57 a share.
