Magicians can confound an audience with their magic, but unfortunately, they never share their secrets. But that’s not the case at Cognis and Laboratories Serobiologiques, where the sales and marketing team are happy to explain how the company’s ingredients and technologies can bring magical properties to your personal care formulas. It’s Magic was the Cognis theme at this year’s NYSCC Suppliers’ Day. This year Cognis highlighted systems and ingredients across five platforms including: silicone-free, phase inversion temperature (PIT), switch oil phase (SWOP), cationic systems and anhydrous solutions. For example, Cognis’ Cetiol C5 is an Ecocert-approved emollient that can be used as a cyclomethicone substitute in facial, body, sun and hair care products, as well as decorative cosmetics. Meanwhile, Laboratories Serobiologiques (LS) rolled out three active ingredients for skin care. Eterniskin is an extract of maitake mushrooms that supports anti-aging and anti-stress marketing claims. New Elestan, based on the extracts of leaves of an African tree, improves skin elasticity and firmness via a dual mechanism: it protects skin by inhibiting elastase and reducing glycation and two, it repairs skin by promoting the synthesis of tropoelastin and elastin-associated proteins. Finally, Radianskin is the newest skinwhitener from LS. It not only lightens skin, it also protects it from UV-induced damage. A pure single molecule, it has no impact on formulation color and has a mode of action that differentiates it from common tyrosinase inhibitors.
