Colgate-Palmolive Co. chairman and chief executive Reuben Mark said he expects to remain with the company for the next two to four years, and at some point a current executive at the household products company would become CEO.

Lois Juliber, chief operating officer; Ian Cook, the executive vice president in charge of North America and Europe; and Javier Teruel, executive vice president for the company’s other units, have been seen as the three executives battling to succeed Mr. Mark, who has run Colgate for 20 years. Mr. Mark plans to retain chairmanship.

Mr. Juliber, Mr. Cook and Mr. Teruel have been in rotating jobs as the board of directors.
