CPL Aromas Launches 2022 Sustainability and Impact Reports

This comprehensive report showcases CPL Aromas’ progress, achievements and future goals in key areas of sustainability.

CPL Aromas, one of the largest fragrance-only fragrance houses, has launched its 2022 Sustainability and Impact Reports highlighting the company’s ongoing dedication to sustainability and environmental responsibility. 
 
This comprehensive report showcases CPL Aromas’ progress, achievements and future goals in key areas of sustainability which are in line with the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
 
CPL Aromas recognizes the urgent need to address environmental challenges and minimize the impact on the planet. The 2022 Sustainability Report outlines the company’s initiatives and strategies aimed at reducing environmental impact and promoting sustainable practices throughout its operations.
 
“I am proud to report on another successful year of progress towards our sustainability goals,” said CPL Aromas’ CEO, Chris Pickthall. “We continued to strive for a better future for people and the planet, and we're happy to use our good fortune to continue to help those less fortunate. Our strong values of quality, responsibility, sustainability, independence, and family pride remain at the center of our work and during 2022 we cemented sustainability into our strategy, forming the heart of many of our future strategic objectives.”
 
The Sustainability and Impact Reports detail CPL’s achievements during 2022 related to its four focus areas: Protecting the environment; caring for people; delivering responsible innovations; and committing to responsible sourcing. The company says “great progress” has been made to achieve their goals across these four pillars.

Key Highlights 

Environment: In 2022 CPL reduced its absolute Scope 1 & 2 emissions by 47.5% against their 2018 baseline. The company also redefined their objective and now aims to reach carbon neutrality in its direct operations by 2030;
 
Product Innovation: The 2022 Sustainability Report emphasizes CPL’s focus on developing environmentally friendly fragrance solutions for its customers. The company launched their AromaCore Bio capsules this year – a biodegradable encapsulation technology. AromaCore Bio is a sustainable alternative to AromaCore that delivers longer-lasting fragrance performance for fabric care applications without contributing to the effects of climate change;
 
Sustainable Sourcing: CPL Aromas recognize the importance if responsible sourcing and has made significant progress in promoting sustainable practices within its supply chain. The company has now assessed 41% of its supply chain for their commitments to sustainability with over 42 responsibly sourced ingredients on the palette and 15 upcycled; and 
 
Community Engagement: CPL Aromas actively engages with local communities to make a positive social impact. The report highlights the company’s support for various community projects, including education and vocational training initiatives aiming to uplift and empower individuals within the fragrance industry. CPL continues to support CAFOD and have donated over £556k this year to support their ongoing projects around the world.
 
The company also achieved EcoVadis Platinum Certificate putting CPL in the top 1% of companies assessed in 2022.
