The Consumer Specialty Products Association’s Air Care Division recently announced a tentative agenda for its upcoming workshop on innovation and creativity in product development. It will be held Oct. 29 at the Sheraton Newark Airport, NJ, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

While the workshop will focus on air care products, the information will have broad application to consumer specialty product development throughout the industry. Prospective attendees therefore will draw from all divisions of CSPA, in addition to the air care sector.

The workshop will begin with a general overview by Professor Charles Sidman, MBA, Ph.D, University of Cincinnati, who will conduct the morning session. He will discuss Innovation: Typologies, Evolution and Complex Adaptive Systems; Building Innovative Organizations and People; and Innovation, Risk and Decision-Making. Each of these discussions will be 50 minutes long, with 10-minute breaks. A half-hour period for recap, discussion and questions will precede lunch, which will be provided, at noon.

The afternoon session, which begins at 1:00 p.m., will be introduced and conducted by Marvin Matises, principal, the Galileo Idea Group. His topics include The DNA of Innovation: Innovation and Competitive Advantage in Air Care; Customer Focus: Finding the Sparks to Ignite Creativity; and Leadership and People: Ten Things To Do Right Away. As with the morning program, each talk will last 50 minutes, with 10-minute breaks. The workshop will wrap up beginning at 4:00 p.m. with a summary, discussion and questions, concluding at 4:30 p.m.

Interested parties may register online at CSPA.org. A block of rooms has been reserved under “CSPA” for the night of Oct. 28 at the rate of $129 plus tax. Reservations should be called in directly to the Sheraton at 973-690-5500 or 800-325-3535 no later than Oct. 14.
