Despite nearly a 10% decline in salon retail revenue during the first half of 2024, curl care products remain a segment to watch in the professional hair care market, showing resilient growth of almost 2%, according to the latest Kline PRO data.

This increase is driven by hairstyling and haircare products, with hairstyling alone accounting for 60% of segment sales.

With about 60% of the US population having wavy, curly, or coily hair, curl care is not only significant, but an expanding segment within the haircare market. The natural hair movement has been pivotal in encouraging individuals to embrace their natural textures, fueling demand for specialized curl care products.

As consumers continue to embrace more natural, curly styles, the need for products that cater to their unique hairtypes becomes more pronounced, analysts say. This trend highlights the importance of understanding and addressing the diverse needs of curly-haired individuals, as each curl type presents unique requirements that demand specialized solutions.
