Del Laboratories, Inc. today announced results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2001.Net sales for the first quarter of 2001 were $72,738,000, an increase of 8% compared to first quarter 2000 net sales of $67,463,000. Net earnings for the first quarter were $1,270,000, or $.16 per share, compared to net earnings of $501,000, or $.06 per share in 2000.Dan K. Wassong, chairman, president and chief executive officer, said, “The increase in sales and income in both our cosmetics and OTC pharmaceutical businesses reflect the continued strength of our brands. We achieved increases in both of our core Sally Hansen and Orajel brands. Developing brands N.Y.C. New York Color and Dermarest Psoriasis also contributed to the Company’s growth.”
