Ecolab CEO paid $2.1M in 2005

Doug Baker, Jr., president and chief executive officer of Ecolab Inc., made $2.1 million in salary, bonus and other compensation in 2005, up 38% from his $1.5 million take-home in 2004.

Ecolab paid Baker a $700,000 base salary, a $1.26 million bonus and other compensation of $151,562 in 2005. In 2004, he was paid $625,000 in salary, an $850,000 bonus and $59,000 in other compensation.

Baker was awarded 326,499 shares in 2005 with a grant day value of $3,077,340. He also exercised 49,850 shares in 2005 worth $932,399.

Baker, 47, became chief executive officer of Ecolab in June 2004. He took over for former chief executive officer Al Schuman, who is about to hand Baker his role as chairman of Ecolab’s board. Baker’s tenure as chairman is expected to start May 12, the same day that the company holds its annual meeting of stockholders. The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. and be held at the Weyerhauser auditorium at the Landmark Center in downtown St. Paul.
