Estee Lauder Names Weber President, Aramis and Designer Fragrances

The Estee Lauder Companies Inc. announced today that Fabrice Weber will appointed president of the Aramis and designer fragrances division, effective Jan. 1, 2004. He will oversee Aramis, Lab Series for Men, Tommy Hilfiger Fragrances, Donna Karan Cosmetics, Michael Kors and Kiton.

Mr. Weber joined The Estee Lauder Cos. as vice president and general manager, travel retailing worldwide, in March 2001. Prior to joining The Estee Lauder Cos., Mr. Weber was the general manager of Chanel’s fragrance and beauty division in Japan, and before that, he held a series of positions with both marketing and commercial responsibility in Europe and Asia Pacific for L’Oreal.

Mr. Weber succeeds John Karp, who is leaving the company at the end of this month. Mr. Karp joined the company in 1979 as manager of the Estee Lauder brand in the UK. He left in 1987 to launch Shiseido there as managing director, then returned to the company in 1992 as vice president and general manager of Aramis International, where he was responsible for the rapid development of the Aramis franchise. He has led the Aramis and designer fragrances division since it was formed in 2002.

Olivier Bottrie will become senior vice president, general manager, travel retailing worldwide on Jan. 1, 2004. Since May 2002, he has held the position of regional vice president, field sales Northeast for Estee Lauder, dealing with all major U.S. accounts in that critical region. He joined company in January 1996 after serving with Yves Saint Laurent Parfums.
