Eva NYC has achieved B Corp accreditation, the reported sole beauty brand in mass haircare at Ulta Beauty to receive such certification.

B Corp Certification is a high standard of excellence for social and environmental responsibility. To qualify, companies are evaluated across five categories, and need at least 80 points combined from five categories to be applicable for certification; for context, an ordinary company typically scores 50.9.

Eva NYC scored 106.2 for B Corp. With 80 points required to qualify, Eva NYC exceeded industry expected scores due to incorporating all five B Corp facets into the company's DNA. The B Corp categories include how environmental stewardship is measured. For Eva NYC, that is PCR, measuring emissions, being vegan and cruelty free, as well as non-gmo certified, according to Jamie Richards, sustainability lead of Eva NYC.

Other criteria include how employees are treated. For Eva NYC, this means benefits such as parental leave, 401K matching, healthcare plans and PTO. Relationships with vendors and suppliers and the community a company works are other factors. Eva NYC has a partnership with Green City Force and purchases from vendors in its local Brooklyn whenever possible.

Another criteria is customers and the protections a company gives to the public. For Eva NYC, this means privacy data settings, warranties, feedback and quality control. Governance (transparency) is another. At Eva NYC, this means protecting investments and initiatives with strong mission drivers and ethical concerns. Emphasizing transparency within Eva NYC and customers is among the brand’s core values.
