Evonik is promoting several active ingredients for skin and hair care formulations. To boost skin moisturization, Evonik offers Tego Arjuna, a standardized extract from the heartwood of Terminalia Arjuna tree. It moisturizes skin, reinforces its barrier function, decreases its scaliness and improves skin elasticity. Tego Arjuna contains at least 90% of triterpenes, of which a minimum of 65% is arjunolic acid. To improve spots and pimples, try Tego Policosanol, a natural mixture of higher aliphatic alcohols extracted from sugar cane waxes. Recommended for oily skin, Tego Policosanol provides sebum control benefits and inhibits the growth of microorganisms. It contains at least 70% of very long chain fatty alcohols, with 1-octacosanol (C28) as the main component. Tego Turmerone is said to be ideal for skin color/tone modulation. This distilled fraction of turmeric oil is extracted from the root of the Curcuma Longa by supercritical carbon dioxide. It has significant antioxidant activity and induces endogenous cellular defense mechanisms against oxidative stress. The material contains at least 65% of Turmerones. Finally for hair repair and protection, there’s Tego Galanga, a natural extract obtained from the roots of Kaempferia Galanga. It is a natural source of ethyl p-methoxycinnamate with a minimum content of 98%. It is said to provide excellent UV absorption and similar benefits in formulation as OMC, making it an ideal ingredient for the protection of hair fibers and hair color fading from UV radiation. In another move, Evonik Goldschmidt GmbH and Aqualon have teamed up to create multifunctional products for the personal care industry. The collaboration is based on cellulosics (hydroxypropyl methylcellulose). In cleansing formulas, these materials provide more stable and creamy foams. Now, these materials are available in a unique, patented fluidized polymer suspension, making in-use handling easier. The products are marketed by Evonik Goldschmidt under the new tradenames TegoCel and TegoCel fluid. More info: www.evonik.com
