Evonik: named Ron Birnbaum to business director of personal care for the NAFTA region in the nutrition and care segment. Prior to his appointment, Birnbaum was head of procurement for the Americas. Since joining Evonik Industries AG (formerly Degussa AG) in 2000, Birnbaum held various leading positions at Evonik including senior project manager of in-house consulting and vice-president NAFTA for the high-performance polymers business. Birnbaum started his professional career with ICI in 1986, including three years in Hong Kong. In 1997, he received his MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and afterward joined Bayer’s rubber division.
