Eye Ointment Products Recalled After FDA Inspection

Products sold by Walmart, CVS and AACE Pharmaceuticals.

Brassica Pharma Pvt. Ltd. is voluntarily recalling eye ointment products due to lack of sterility assurance at the facility noted during an inspection conducted by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). 

The impacted products—Equate Lubricant Eye Ointment, Equate Stye Lubricant Eye Ointment, CVS Health Lubricant Eye Ointment and AACE Pharmaceuticals’ Lubricant PM Ointment—have expiration dates ranging from February 2024 to September 2025. More details regarding the lots, package size and more can be found here.

For those who use these products, there is a potential risk of eye infections or related harm, according to FDA.  Brassica Pharma Pvt. Ltd. has not received any reports of adverse events (up to Feb 16) related to this recall, noted the Agency.

Brassica Pharma Pvt. Ltd. is notifying its distributors and retailers.

Consumers should stop using the recalled eye ointment and may return any the listed products to the place of purchase, according to the recall notification.
