Whomever said “it's the economy stupid,” never met a fragrance marketing executive. In good times and in bad, new fragrances continue to debut no matter what the economy is doing—even when the economy isn't doing much. First quarter fine fragrance sales fell 13%, according to NPD Group. Things were worse in the second as sales dropped 37%. Here's an alphabetical listing of fragrances to come: • Acqua di Parma Colonia Furtura Eau de Cologne, $170. Top notes include bergamot, citrus and pink pepper, with vetiver base notes; • Dior J’Adore Eau de Parfum Infinissime, $115 to $145. The floral formula includes sandalwood and tuberose notes; • Giorgio Armani My Way Eau de Parfum, $74 to $126. The formula includes jasmine, tuberose and orange blossom on base notes of vanilla and cedarwood. • Jo Malone Fig & Lotus Flower Cologne, $72 to $142. The formula includes, obviously, fig leaf and lotus flower. • Maison Francis Kurkdjian l’Homme À la rose, $165 to $275. The formula includes damask and centifolia roses. • Perfect Marc Jacobs Eau de Parfum, $96 to $128. The scent includes top notes of rhubarb and daffodil with base notes of almond milk and cashmeran. • Rebecca Minkoff Eau de Parfum, $55 to $95. The designer’s entry into fragrance includes jasmine, tobacco and patchouli. • Roses on Ice by Kilian, $195. Part of Kilian’s Liquors olfactive family, Roses on Ice combines gin on the rocks with cucumber and juniper berries, along with rose centifolia and sandalwood. • Tumi Awaken Eau de Parfum, $100. The scent includes notes of grapefruit, clary sage and cedarwood, all designed to provide an emotional lift. • Valentino Voce Viva, $100. The fragrance includes notes of ginger, orange blossom, vanilla and sandalwood.
