Former Unilever Chairman Tabakslat Dies

Joined company as trainee in 1964, named chair in 1994.

Morris Tabaksblat, former Unilever chairman, has passed away after a long illness. He was 74.



Tabaksblat joined Unilever as a trainee in 1964 and went on to have along and distinguished career with the company. After spellsworking forUnilever in the Netherlands, Spain, Brazil and North America, he became chairman of theUnilever in 1994. He retired five years later.


“His contributionto Unileverthroughout his career wasimmense, and his impact on corporate life has been far-reaching. He will be particularly remembered for the valuablework of theTabaksblat Committee which has redefined much ofour thinking on corporate governance,” said Paul Polman, Unilever’s CEO.


” He was a great support to me from the day I started as CEO and I am incredibly grateful for that,” concluded Polman.
