Fourth Quarter Sales and Earnings Rise at WD-40

But company reports a decline for the full year.

WD-40, which markets its namesake lubricant as well as soaps and household cleaning products, reported Oct. 14 thatquarterly net income surged 64% to $7.6 million and net sales rose 1% to $77.8 million.

“During the quarter, margin benefited from stabilization in the cost of petroleum-based products as well as positive impacts from investments related to our supply chain we made during the year,” Chief Executive Garry Ridge said in a statement.


For the year ended Aug. 31, WD-40 reported net income of $26.3 million on net sales of $292 million in fiscal 2009. Fiscal 2008 brought net income of $27.6 million on net sales of $317 million.
