Gattefosse has released its color pulse kit to provide insights on how the company formulates makeup that is sensorial, high-performing and natural.

The company launched Emulium Illustro in 2019, a water-in-oil emulsifier that is highly compatible with pigments and UV filters. In the last five years, the company has recruited global experts to study the compatibilities and possibilities of its ingredients in color cosmetics.

“After the rise of naturality in skincare, brands started to embrace this trend in color cosmetics, too, despite the challenge it represents,” said Lysiane Teyssier, product marketing leader, texture ingredients and personal care applications. “The lab team has developed a strong expertise in makeup over the years and is ready to support customers in their transition to natural makeup.”

Formulas

The new kit is composed of 13 colored formulas for face, eyes and lips, from light-to high coverage, to shine and matte and light and dark shades. All formulas are highly natural and in different formats (liquid, cream, stick and powder) and various formulation types.

Patricia Sengel, cosmetic formulation laboratory manager, said the kit was three years in the making. Included is the serum foundation. Designed for its high sensoriality, the serum texture glides easily on skin to even out the complexion with a bare-skin effect. Developed in three shades and emulsified in Emulium Illustro, the formula is cold-processable and contains more than 97% of natural origin ingredients.
