BELGIUM: The Gerresheimer Group, a leading international manufacturer of glass packaging for pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, is expanding production in Belgium to strengthen the future of Momignies as a production location. New high-performance smelting and production facilities were commissioned by Geresheimer’s subsidiary, Nouvelles Verreries des Momignies SA, in January. The new facilities, which replace an older plant, mean that the market importance of opal glass from Momignies will increase significantly, company executives said. The company hopes to produce 15 million containers made of the fine white or cream-colored glass annually.
