Halloween Lashes Are Big, Says Lash Boutique

This Halloween, take a cue from your favorite pop stars and let your lashes steal the spotlight! Below,Christian Zamora of Courtney Akai Lash Boutique (courtneyakai.com) reveals his insider tips and tricks for creating the wild, iconic lash looks seen on Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez and Nicki Minaj!

  1. Start by curling your lashes and add up to three coats of mascara. Make sure to use the blackest of black to create a super thick lash line
  2. Add your favorite colored mascara to the top of the lashes by closing your eye and applying it only on the top. This creates that peek-a-boo look!
  3. If you want to get really glam and daring, apply a touch of liquid glitter eyeliner directly on top of the colored mascara, this will intensify the mascara for a bolder look

  1. Lady Gaga has very large eyes and false lashes are used balance her eye shape. To achieve this look without false lashes, you’ll need just one thing – your favorite mascara! Start by applying one coat, both sides of the lash line
  2. Apply a second coat of mascara from the middle of the eye to the outer corner, both sides of the lash line
  3. Gloss on a third and forth coat of mascara but only on the outer corners of the eye, both sides of the lash line
  4. To finish, apply two coats of mascara to your bottom lashes

  1. This type of false lash will work on all eye shapes! Start by placing the false lash on your eye first, without glue, so that you can trim the strip if need be. Make sure to trim the inner corner so that you don’t lose the flared end!
  2. Apply glue to the strip and wait 15 to 20 seconds before placing on lash line. If you apply the lash immediately, the glue may be too wet and cause the lash to slide around. By waiting, the glue will become tacky and adhere much more easily
  3. Once the glue has dried and your false lashes are secure, apply a coat of your favorite mascara

  1. Start with synthetic lashes, a blend of black and blue would be ideal. Make sure to choose a pair that flares out on the end!
  2. Place the false lash on your eye first, without glue, so that you can trim the strip if need be. Make sure to trim the inner corner so that you don’t lose the flared end
  3. Once you’ve trimmed the strip to fit, apply glue along the false lash and let dry for about 15 to 20 seconds before applying to your eye. The most important part of wearing great lashes like this is THE GLUE. I only trust Duo glue and I always buy the black. Once it dries, it’s almost undetectable!
  4. Once the lashes are secure and the glue has dried, apply mascara to bond the false lashes to your natural lashes
  5. For added pop, you can also add a coat of blue mascara!
