The HallStar Company and Scandiflex announced plans to form a new joint venture. HallStar do Brazil, which will be owned equally by both firms, will market HallStar’s personal care ingredients and will be headquartered in São Paulo, Brazil.

Scandiflex brings its manufacturing expertise, distribution network, and knowledge of the personal care market in Brazil to the venture. HallStar brings its vast product portfolio, patent estate, and marketing expertise. HallStar ingredients are essential for use in skin care, sun care, hair care, and toiletries consumer products.

“Brazil is one of the fastest growing personal care markets in the world,” said John Paro, chairman, president, and chief executive officer of HallStar. “We are very excited to bring our ingredients — especially our family of photostabilizers—to Brazilian formulators and ultimately to Brazilian consumers.”

“By combining our expertise, HallStar and Scandiflex are positioning the new company to succeed,” said Ronald Riess, president of Scandiflex. “Consumers want and need better, longer-lasting sun care products, for example, and HallStar do Brazil will soon be delivering them.”

A dedicated sales representative is being hired to accelerate new products to market, according to HallStar.
