HCPA To Host Webinar on Antimicrobials

Learn how antimicrobials used in these applications are regulated and how companies can establish compliance under the applicable statutory schemes.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) oversee a complicated statutory framework for antimicrobials that are used in food and food-contact applications.

The EPA has jurisdiction over antimicrobials that meet the definition of a “pesticide” under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA), while the FDA has jurisdiction over antimicrobials that meet the definition of a “food additive” under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FDCA). In some cases, both agencies may even share authority.

In a webinar hosted by the Household and Commercial Products Association on May 22 from 1 to 2 pm entitled, “Understanding FDA and EPA Compliance for Antimicrobials Used in Food and Food-Contact Applications,” Michael Boucher and Joe Dages, Partners at Steptoe, will provide an overview of how antimicrobials used in these applications are regulated and how companies can establish compliance under the applicable statutory schemes.

The fee for member is $49 and $79 for non-members.

For those unable to attend, the webinar recording and slides will be sent via email to registered participants.
