Ideo, a skincare brand that uses neurological research to address skin health and aging, has launched its second SKU, Skin Memory Daily Moisturizer.

Featuring the brand’s proprietary RMA Complex, Skin Memory Daily Moisturizer treats skin on a cellular level, targeting the skin’s “memory” to allow it to function like it did at its most optimal, youthful state, according to the brand.

Skin Memory Daily Moisturizer can be used alone or layered with Ideo’s first product, the Skin Memory Serum, for a “mitochondrial metabolism boost,” per the brand.

Awakening Skin’s Memory

On a cellular level, skin tissue shares many of the same properties as brain tissue. As aging occurs, whether in the cells of the brain or the skin, the Krebs cycle slows down, leading to an increase in free radicals. Over time, skin cells can be damaged by external exposures, like ultraviolet radiation from the sun, or internal ones like oxidative stress and inflammation. In the skin, this leads to wrinkling, loss of elasticity, laxity and rough texture.

Featuring a rich-yet-weightless texture, Ideo Skin Memory Daily Moisturizer targets the visible signs of aging – hyperpigmentation and discoloration, fine lines and wrinkles, uneven tone and laxity – resulting from disordered and destabilized epidermal cells. Skin Memory Daily Moisturizer essentially reprograms cells to regain their youth memory, relearn youthful behavior and resolve underlying age issues while leaving skin feeling soft, plump and hydrated.

The RMA Complex features a patented, topical form of RMA (resveratrol, maleate and antioxidants) that targets the Krebs cycle of metabolism, a critical point when chemical reactions are effectively processed. Maleate fuels the Krebs cycle to bring cells back to their optimal state, reducing the production of these free radicals while the resveratrol and antioxidants in the complex support the function of the maleate, removing additional free radicals from the skin, per the brand.

Clinical Studies

Third-party clinical studies using the IDEO RMA Complex have shown that in five days, there was an improvement in overall skin tone and redness; in 14 days, there was increased radiance and improved fine lines; and in 30 days, pores were smaller and a reduction in dark spots and wrinkles.

Unique Backstory

Founder and CEO Andrew Shemin

Ideo is built on the research of the late Dr. John P. Blass, MD, PhD, who dedicated more than 30 years of his career to Alzheimer’s research.

Dr. Blass’ discovery of RMA helped alter the landscape of neurological research by crossing the almost impenetrable blood- brain barrier to help brain cells regenerate their capacity to function. After Blass’ wife Gitte had a surgical procedure that left her with a deep, long scar, he hypothesized that what works in the brain would work on the skin. He compounded RMA into a bio-topical matrix and significantly reduced Gitte’s scar within a few weeks. Founder and CEO Andrew Shemin, an indie film producer and friend of Dr. Blass and Gitte Blass, saw the potential of Dr. Blass’s invention after trying the formula and seeing his skin improve dramatically in less than two weeks. Andrew was so impressed that he put his film projects aside to build the brand, ultimately launching the first product—Skin Memory Serum—in 2021.

Ideo Skin Memory Moisturizer retails for $95 at www.ideoskincare.com.
