In the body wash category, luxurious lather sells. Along those lines, Innospec (Booth No. 922) has relaunched Iselux, its sulfate-free surfactant technology which is readily biodegradable, comes from renewable resources and delivers attributes consumers desire, such as great foam and great skin feel.

According to company officials, Isulex allows chemists to formulate structured liquids, and offers a number of advantages over existing commercial surfactants. For example, formulations will remain crystal clear while still allowing a dense rich foam and because it is sulfate-free it is milder to the skin. Tests have shown that over a cumulative 2-week period, Iselux is less likely to induce skin irritation than SLS and SLES.

At the same time, this surfactant technology ensures the cleaning product rinses away easily and is not sticky when dry, leaving the skin feeling smooth.

As an isethionate ester, it can be used as a primary or secondary surfactant, and according to Innospec it has been proven to be highly stable in formulations exposed to both high and low temperatures. It can be easily thickened with electrolytes when used in combination with the most common secondary surfactant. Innopsec also notes that compared to existing commercial technologies, Iselux has a low odor profile.
