Thirty years after launching L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme, Issey Miyake is again drawing inspiration from an essential element of nature: salt.

As consumers sail away into a new year, Le Sel d’Issey by Issey Miyake is billed a woody marine aromatic fragrance that encapsulates the essence of a salt-sprayed voyage. Top notes are sea salt and ginger; middle notes are seaweed and vetiver; and base notes are cedarwood and oakmoss.

“Salt is the memory of a wave on the earth and on the skin. My intention was to tackle the element salt, which responds naturally to the element water, previously interpreted by the brand, as well as the movement of nature,” said perfumer Quentin Bisch.

Visionary Design

The bottle, designed by Tokujin Yoshioka, a protégé of Miyake, mirrors the crystallization of sound waves in salt form. The minimalist design perfectly encapsulates Miyake’s vision of harmonizing nature with human ingenuity.

Sustainability

In line with Issey Miyake’s commitment to sustainability, Le Sel D’Issey offers refillable 50- and 100 milliliter bottles, reducing environmental impact by saving 59% of carbon emissions, 59% of energy consumption, and 52% of water consumption compared to traditional bottles.

Issey Miyake Le Sel D’Issey retails from $105-$145 in 50, 100 and 150- bottles at Macy’s.
