The pandemic hurt every industry, but few were more banged up than trade shows and conventions. Industry revenue plunged 72% from 2019 and more than half of the companies in the events business had to make job cuts, according to UFI, an industry trade group.

But after 18 months of little or no travel, business executives are eager to get back on the road. Last month, the Florida Chapter of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists successfully held its Sunscreen Symposium in Orlando. During the event, FDA announced some good news for the sun care industry—even as benzene issues continue to create headlines.  Next week, the California Chapter of the SCC will hold its Suppliers' Day in Long Beach. In November the New York Chapter of the SCC will hold Suppliers' Day in New York City and the SCC year concludes with the Annual Meeting in December.

Meanwhile, the ISSA is moving ahead with its exhibition in Las Vegas in November. The ISSA Show is the biggest North American event for the industrial and institutional cleaning market. In December, the Household & Commercial Products Association will hold its annual meeting in Fort Lauderdale, FL, with online options for attendees.

Looking ahead to 2022, the American Cleaning Institute is committed to holding an in-person Annual Meeting & Industry Convention.

In much of the US, COVID cases seem to be declining. That's good news for everyone, including those in the trade show business.
