J&J Sells Reach in Asia-Pacific To LG

Brand commands 53% of dental floss market in Japan.

LG Household & Health Care, Ltd. has acquired the Asia Pacific business of Reach brand oral care from Johnson & Johnson PTE Ltd., for an undisclosed amount.
 
The acquisition will enhance the LG H&H oral care business in the existing markets such as Korea, China, Taiwan, Japan, and Vietnam and new markets such as Australia, New Zealand, and India, according to the company.
 
LG H&H said that the strategy behind the acquisition is that it will be a part of nurturing the oral health business as it makes further R&D investment and expand overseas business.
 
Created in 1972 by Johnson & Johnson, Reach has become global oral care brand providing a range of products such as toothbrushes and dental floss. In the Asia Pacific region, it is currently sold in six countries and holds trademark rights in 21 countries. In Japan, Reach is the No. 1 dental floss, with 53% market share.
