La Roche-Posay Announces Grant Recipients

2010 research award winners revealed at meeting.

La Roche-Posay announced the winners of the La Roche-Posay North American Foundation’s 2010 Research Awards at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology. Each award winner will receive a grant of $7,500 for dermatological research.

This same dedication was echoed by the clinical research projects that were awarded the Foundation’s grants. This year, three projects were recognized for their excellence and promise in dermatological research. Marcelyn Coley, MD of St. Luke’s-Roosevelt was awarded for her project, “Skin pigmentation and vitamin D status.” Another prize was awarded to Melanie Warycha, MD of NYU School of Medicine for her project, “Risk factor profile of women with early development of nonmelanoma skin cancer.” The final prize was given to Jonathan Zippin, MD/PhD of Weill Cornell in recognition of his project, “sAC and proliferative diseases.”

“We are committed to dermatology and to building strong partnerships with the future leaders in this field,” said La Roche-Posay General Manager Yannick Raynaud. “We value the importance of research works, and as such, we’re pleased to support these outstanding candidates and help them further their dermatological research.”

The La Roche-Posay Foundation is a non-profit organization created in France in 1985, whose mission is to support dermatology research in order to improve quality of life of men, women and children across the world. The LRP Foundation exists in four continents (Europe, North America, Latin America and Asia), completing the Foundation’s worldwide reach.

For 2011, abstracts are due by Dec. 1, 2010.Proposals should include a one page abstract, research plan and budget totaling no more than 10 pages, curriculum vitae of applicant and letter of support from a mentor or chief of dermatology. Research by dermatology residents, fellows and new dermatologists in practice for up to two years is welcome. Contact Jen Mendenhall at [email protected] for more information.
