Laundry Scent Additive Patented by Procter & Gamble

• Patent No. 7,867,968 B1; Procter & Gamble,Cincinnati, OH, has patented a laundry scent additive that is comprised of polyethylene glycol with a molecular weight from approximately 5,000 to 11,000, free perfume and friable perfume microcapsule.
The microcapsule is comprised of anencapsulated perfume and a melamine/formaldehyde shell. The composition is shaped in a pastille having a mass of approximately 0.95 mg-2g.
Striped LiquidPersonal Cleanser
• U.S. Patent No. 7,867,962 B2;Procter & Gamble, has patented a personal cleansing article comprising a package containing a liquid striped personal cleansing composition. The composition has one stripe containing a cleansing phase comprised of surfactant and water and at least one additional stripe comprising a benefit phase.
The benefit phase has a high internal phase emulsion that is comprised of 50% or more of oil and stabilizer.
Shaped Toilet BarPatented by Conopco
• U.S. Patent No. 7,867,964 B2; Conopco, Inc., Englewood Cliffs, NJ, has patented a shaped toilet bar. It is comprised of non-soap anionic surfactant and fatty acid soap.
Sun ProductsPatents Detergent
• U.S. Patent No. 7,867,970 B2; The Sun Products Corporation, Wilton, CT, has patented a detergent. It is comprised of a surfactant system comprising lauric soap, anionic surfactant, nonionic surfactant, a builder system and, optionally, other detergent ingredients. The weight ratio of the nonionic surfactant to soap is within the range of 0.75:1 to 2:1. The weight ratio of the anionic surfactant to soap is 1:1 to 2:1. The turbidity of the surfactant system is less than 0.1 and 75-100 weight percent of the soap is present in the form of a granule having a particle size of between 400 to 1,400 pm and a bulk density of from 400 to 650 g/liter, which is dry-mixed with the other components.
The soap granule has a concentration of soap of at least 90 weight percent based on the weight of the granule.
Kao Patents One-PartHair Dye Composition
• U.S. Patent No. 7,857,863 B2; Kao Corporation, based in Tokyo, has been awarded a U.S. patent for a one-part hair dye composition.
It is comprised of 5,6-dihydroxyindole and 5,6-dihydroxyindole-2-carboxylic acid; ascorbic acid or salt thereof or (b2) sulfurous acid or salt thereof; and an alkali agent. The composition has a pH of from 8 to 11. The dye composition does not contain a coupler.
Spider Esters in PersonalCare Applications
• U.S. Patent No. 7,858,075 B2; SurfaTech Corporation, Dacula, GA, has patented a process for moisturizing the skin that entails contacting the skin with an effective moisturizing concentration of a glycol spider ester.
Cold Wax Depilatory
• U.S. 7,867,289 B2; Madlen Postajian of La Crescenta, CA has patented a cold wax depilatory composition and related process. It entails placing a quantity of sucrose into a heating vessel, adding vinegar and citric acid into the heating vessel and stirring it to create a mixture.
The mixture is then heated to approximately 230°F, diluted with water and cooled to form a soft wax at room temperature.
Multiphase Dying MethodPatented by L’Oréal
• U.S. Patent No. 7,857,866 B2; L’Oréal S.A., Paris, has patented a multistage method for dyeing keratinous fibers. It entails treating the fibers, in at least two stages, with ortho-diphenol and derivatives thereof, at least one metal salt, hydrogen peroxide or at least one system which generates hydrogen peroxide, and (bi)carbonate;and mechanically wiping or drying the fibers between the first and last of the at least two treating stages. The method does not comprise a rinsing stage just before the stage of treating the fibers with the at least one (bi)carbonate.
Food ProcessingEquipment Cleaner
• U.S. Patent No. 7,857,913 B2; William E. Spindler of Ft. Wayne, IN has patented a method of cleaning and reducing microbial populations on a surface in a food processing environment. It entails providing a cleaner that consists of a first container of hydrogen peroxide having a corrosive acidic pH; and a second container of an alkaline component having an alkaline pH and an alkaline builder. Either container consists of an amine oxide surfactant. The hydrogen peroxide, the alkaline component, the alkaline builder, and the amine oxide surfactant are combined for application. The alkaline component and the alkaline builder raise the pH of the cleaner from the corrosive acidic pH to said alkaline pH. The cleaner can be applied to food processing machines, floors, walls or other surfaces in a food-processing environment to clean food soils and stains.
