L’Oréal Canada employees recently participated in the 7th L’Oréal Citizen Day held in Montreal and Toronto, during which they dedicated one day to helping local community organizations. For this year’s edition, L’Oréal Canada partnered with several not-for-profit organizations such as the Women’s Centre of Montreal, which provides educational and vocational training to help women help themselves; Moisson Montréal, the largest food bank in Canada; Welcome Hall Mission, which actively works at reducing poverty in the city; and One Tree Planted, whose mission is to plant trees around the world. More than 300 L’Oréal Canada employees took part in concrete actions such as collecting and sorting food and clothing, gardening, cleaning and beautifying green spaces throughout the day. At the Women’s Centre of Montreal, the L’Oréal Canada human resources team organized workshops and one-on-one consultations on how to write résumés and prepare for interviews. In Toronto, employees spent a full day at the Etobicoke Humane Society where they assisted the shelter volunteers with various tasks like socializing with the animals, cleaning their cages and making small renovations to their enclosures to better their living conditions. They also gathered a collection of donations such as food, toys and cleaning materials for the animals. “The collective Citizen Day effort has been gathering momentum over the last seven years with a growing participation rate. Companies have a mission to create social and societal value,” said Frank Kollmar, president and CEO of L’Oréal Canada. “At L’Oréal, we are fully convinced that we have an important role to play as a corporate citizen.”
