L’Oreal USA Promotes Margaret Sharkey

Margaret Sharkey has been promoted to president of the Helena Rubinstein division of L’Oreal USA. Ms. Sharkey will report directly to Luc Nadeau, president of L’Oreal USA’s Luxury Products group.

As president of the division, Ms. Sharkey will continue to oversee the development and strategy of the Helena Rubinstein brand including the HR Beauty Gallery in Soho. Having opened in April of 1999, the HR Beauty Gallery is the first retail store and spa in the world. In addition to the Beauty Gallery, Helena Rubinstein products are currently sold at Bergdorf Goodman. “Margaret has done an outstanding job of launching Helena Rubinstein in the United States,” stated Guy Peyrelongue, president and CEO of L’Oreal USA , “Her expertise in both skin care and color along with her retail experience will be key to the development and execution of strategic plans for the brand’s continued growth in this country.”

Ms. Sharkey joined L’Oreal USA in 1976 in the marketing department of Lancome where she rose to the position of vice president. In 1988 she moved to the Biotherm division where she was appointed general manager and three years later she was named senior vice president and deputy general manager of Lancome. In 1997 Ms. Sharkey was promoted to her current position as general manager of Helena Rubinstein.

The L’Oreal Group acquired Helena Rubinstein worldwide in 1988. In addition to the United States, the brand is marketed in over 40 countries in Europe, South America and Asia.
