New location in Chicago is home to first classes since pandemic shut down.

Make Up First School of Makeup Artistry, a nationally recognized makeup artist program, has resumed its in-person certification courses. The summer session commenced June 28, according to Jill Glaser, who founded the program in 2006 to address the area's needs for quality makeup artists. After more than a decade, the school has relocated from its downtown Chicago location to a new airy space in Chicago’s West Loop. In addition the school has also partnered with Art+Science salon. Measures to promote the health and well-being have also been instituted, including masks at all times (with the exception of the person sitting as a model for makeup application); small class sizes; surfaces, tools, and supplies are sanitized before each class begins; and students are responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary makeup kit. “Together with our dynamic team, and bolstered by our collaboration with Art+Science, the School is opening and ready to help make dreams a reality,” said Glaser. “The economy is ready to resume, and we know that our well-trained, certified students will lead the charge.” In the program, students gain experience in Chicago, but are also exposed to renowned artists from New York and Los Angeles. They also have opportunity to meet photographers and others successfully working as creatives in the industry throughout Chicago and beyond, according to Glaser. The Fall session begins September 28.
